St. George Rectory Tour In Hermann | Arts & Culture
A tour of the St. George Rectory has become the premier Christmas holiday event in Hermann, MO.
Located across from the St. George School, this three-story historic Franciscan Friary is a showcase for more than 95 decorated Christmas Trees, 25 of which are seven feet tall or taller.
Countless other displays and decorations dominate the building from the kitchen to the bedrooms.
A total of 17 rooms, every inch of hallway and stairs, as well as the Rectory attic are decked out in themed tree displays including a classic Victorian design and a Mardi Gras Christmas tree.
Bedroom themes include the Yellow Brick Road to the Wizard of Oz room, an “Irish” room and a room dedicated to those who have and are presently serving in the military.
Volunteers contribute their time to assemble, manage, and disassemble this display. Assembly of the 2010 display began in October.
Docents are on hand to direct visitors through the display and to explain the meaning behind the varied decoration themes.
